In the tenth game of the Kingdom Valley Kashmir Premier League (KPL) season two between Mirpur Royals and Overseas Warriors, Royals’ skipper put Warriors into bat and the decision paid dividends early، as opener Umar Zeeshan got trapped by leg spinner Abrar Ahmed on two. Skipper Asad Shafiq took charge, from there, and hammered the Royals all around the park. Shafiq went on the score a brilliant ton and perished on 60-ball 112 with 16 fours and three sixes. Azam Khan and Kamran Ghulam contributed with 23 and 24 runs respectively.
Abrar Ahmed was exceptional with his figures of two for just nine runs. Salman Irshad also picked up a couple of wickets.
In reply, Mirpur Royals were cursing, after losing one opener, Ali Imran (2), with Haris Sohail joined hands with Hasan Nawaz to build a partnership. Nawaz got out on 56 and then came skipper Shoaib Malik who tried to steady the ship however his run out, on seven, followed by the dismissal of Haris Sohail (55), in the same fashion, pulled Royals in a hole. At this point they were ahead of Warriors, on D/L method, however neither the weather nor the bowlers let them go through.
Brilliant spells of bowling by Warriors’ Imran Randhawa (2-25) and Sohail Khan (2-36) squeezed Royals to fetch a 15-run victory for their side.
