Cristiano Ronaldo is proud to have beaten Newcastle 4-1 in their second Manchester United debut and the Devils won 4-1.
The 36-year-old welcomed a hero to Old Trafford and restored his confidence before the start of the season. He then pulled out the Magpies level and returned the lead in the second half.
It was the perfect afternoon for United and Ronaldo. After collecting three points, he witnessed the return of one of the best players the Red Devils have ever celebrated.
Speaking to BBC Sport at the end of the match, the Portuguese icon admitted that he was proud of his return and that he did not expect such a start.
Ronaldo said;
“Unbelievable, I didn’t expect to score two goals,”. “I expect only one but it was unbelievable welcome by the crowd they give me support all the time. I belong to this club and I will help the team to achieve everything great things. I am looking forward.”
Portuguese star started the match with full confidence, making runs and moves in the box. Full house Old Trafford badly needed his name on the score sheet at least.
In the stoppage time of first half, Greewood’s effort made a minor deflection to Woodman and his fumble allowed Ronaldo to get into the net. Celebrations started all over England.
On start of second half Newcastle hit an equalizer but few minutes later Ronaldo scored an another fantastic build up goal on assist of Manchester United’s left back Luke Shaw.
