Messi’s Long Dream Has Come True

Messi was incredulous after ending Argentina’s 36-year wait for World Cup glory:

Lionel Messi expressed disbelief after Argentina defeated France to lift their third World Cup crown and end the wait for a third World Cup.

The PSG forward scored two thrilling goals in an astonishing six goals, with Lionel Scaloni emerging as the winner in the penalty shoot-out.

Argentina suffered defeats at the final hurdle in 1990 and 2014, ending a 36-year World Cup wait.

After scoring seven goals and taking home the Ballon d’Or, Messi took to social media to share his thoughts on winning his biggest trophy.

“I dreamt about it so many times, I wanted it so much that I still can’t believe it,”.

“Thank you so much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us. We prove once again that Argentinians when we fight together and united we are able to achieve what we aim.

“The merit is of this group, which is above individuals, is the strength of all fighting for the same dream that was also the one of all Argentinians… We did it!!!” he posted on Instagram.

Messi, who won the tournament’s player of the tournament award in the final, was expected to attend the post-match press conference, but skipped the event as he continued to win with the team.

However, he did speak on the field following Argentina’s triumph and made his desire to continue representing his nation clear.

“I enjoy being in the national team, the group, I want to continue living a few more games being world champion,” he told TyC Sports.
