La Roja’s youth move towards dominant win

Spain’s youth had no problem leading Lithuania to a simple 4-0 win on Tuesday as the senior team was stuffed for their final warm-up match before Euro 2020 due to coronavirus protocols.
Sergio Busquets’ positive COVID-19 test on Sunday upset Spain’s preparations for the European Championship as the situation forced the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to promote its entire Under-21 team, but La Rojita took the opportunity to impress.

Spain quickly showed they were ahead of Lithuania and cleared the goal in three minutes. Hugo Guillamon hitting home from 16 meters after deflecting Manu Garcia’s low half towards the edge of the penalty area.
Less than half an hour was played and it was 2-0 when Brahim Diaz pierced the goal after gaining too much space in the penalty area.

Another come-in from the bench, Javi Puado, made it 4-0 in the 18th minute when Bryan caught a sharply chipped pass, bypassing a defender and moving beyond Svedkauskas.

While Spain couldn’t match their 5-0 win over Lithuania in 1993, their under-21 team showed they have plenty of talent to reserve when needed, at least in the Euro.
